The renovation of the Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra in the center of Jyväskylä was completed in the spring of 2024. In connection with the renovation, part C of the building and its 106 hotel rooms were renovated. Franz was responsible for the interior design of the entire renovation area and the conversion of the hotel's sauna and pool section to sauna and gym use.
Reasonable and innovative solutions that consider the hotel's most important customer groups were expected from the design. Influences for the design were sought from local features, for example Alvar Aalto's design language. The biggest change in the room renovation is the two-person loft bed implemented in ”Kilpasilla” room type. The room, which can accommodate four people, is designed especially for families with children and sports teams. The other two hotel room types are called Aino and Alvar.
The principles of sustainable development were also strongly taken into account in the project when the original granite furniture in the bathrooms was preserved, maintained and reused where possible. The red granite is found especially in the Jyväskylä area and has also been used in the facade of the building.
