We designed Harbore, an atmospheric hotel restaurant located in the Solo Sokos Hotel Pier4, which is open to all city residents. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, so the atmosphere of the space changes according to the rhythm of the day and the occasion. In the morning and at lunchtime, the space is flooded with beautiful natural light, while at dinnertime, as the day gets dark, the restaurant's atmospheric lighting takes on a major role, especially with the impressive brass pendant lights that create an intimate atmosphere by the tables in the high spaces.
Harbore's premises feature a large part of the building's light wood architecture, which was combined with slightly darker wood surfaces and deeper-toned upholstery fabrics in the loose furniture. This was intended to create a slightly more atmospheric and intimate space, while the rest of the hotel's premises mainly feature lighter and fresher tones. However, the general atmosphere continues naturally from the hotel premises to the restaurant, which maintains a unified experience.
The restaurant's furniture has been beautifully designed, down to the last detail. Light ash fixed furniture organizes the space together with large wooden pillars, and a massive granite bar counter creates an impressive element in the middle of the restaurant. The loose furniture offers various table groups, with unique solid wood furniture, granite tables and a lot of Finnish furniture. The aim was to bring softness and hapticity to the upholstery fabrics and curtains with textured fabric surfaces. Biofireplaces, rechargeable table lamps and Finnish decorative vases make the space finished and functional together with the restaurateur's beautiful setting. During the summer, the restaurant also operates on the hotel's rooftop terrace, Rooftop Bar Humu, which we were also responsible for designing.
