Franz designed the wine bar Pinocchio in the heart of Helsinki, in the Ullanlinna district.
The goal was to create an art gallery-like space without sacrificing warmth and invitingness. The concept of Pinocchio is inspired by the renowned Italian artist Ugo Nespolo and his vibrant lithograph collection, Le Avventure di Pinocchio. Nespolo's playful and colorful works based on the beloved story of Pinocchio provide a backdrop for a place where art, artisan wine, and delicious antipasti come together in perfect harmony.
The carefully selected light color tones of the surfaces allow the artworks and people to shine. Pinocchio's interio consists of 100% second-hand furnishings, including sofa from Kukkapuro and vintage Italian pieces. The fixed furniture was crafted by a local carpenter just 15 kilometers from the site. The design aimed to honor the core principles of Pinocchio's operation: authenticity and quality.
